Barcelona at night is much more than going out for drinks. These are my Barcelona at night plans, from cultural visits to concerts, so your night starts with dinner and ends wherever you like. All the places are on the Mapa Inspira.

The basics

No partying
La Pedrera by night, films in their original language or the Font Màgica
With music
jazz and flamenco in Plaça Reial
To dance
Sala Apolo, Razzmatazz or La Paloma

For what’s on today and this weekend, you’ve got my things to do in Barcelona.

Gaudí by night

  1. La Pedrera Night Experience. A guided night tour through the courtyards, the apartment, the attic and the roof terrace, where it ends with a light show over the chimneys. Adults €39.50; under-12s free.
  2. Casa Batlló. Its night-time light show is stunning. Book well in advance.

Jazz, flamenco and concerts

  1. Jamboree. The jazz club under the arcades of Plaça Reial, with concerts and, later on, sessions for dancing.
  2. Tarantos. Flamenco in the same square: about 40 minutes of singing, dancing and guitar, ideal before dinner.
  3. Sidecar. A legendary venue in Plaça Reial, opened in 1982, with live music and DJ sessions. There’s something different every night.
  4. Sala Apolo. In Poble-sec since the 1940s, with concerts by up-and-coming artists and DJ sessions. Check the programme: the style changes every night.
  5. Razzmatazz. Five rooms and five styles at once in Poblenou, from electronic to indie. It has lockers to leave your things.

For dancing or a different kind of drink

  1. La Paloma. The Raval’s legendary dance hall, from the early 20th century, revived as a club and concert venue.
  2. Psycho Rock & Roll Club. A proper rock bar in Poble-sec: beer and music from the 60s to the 90s, no cocktails.
  3. Bar Leo. The most rumba-loving bar in Barceloneta, with photos of Bambino and people dancing even out in the street.

Cinema and theatre

  1. Films in their original language. At the Filmoteca de Catalunya, with themed seasons and very reasonable prices; at Cinemes Verdi in Gràcia; or at Phenomena, with a giant screen and cult screenings.
  2. Theatre. The Teatre Goya in the Raval, with comedies and well-known actors, or the magic of El Mago Pop at the Teatre Victòria, from €42. The small venues, in my boutique theatres.

Rooftops at blue hour

  1. 173 Rooftop at the InterContinental. Go up just after sunset, when the city lights come on.
  2. La Terraza del Pulitzer. Next to plaça de Catalunya, with a DJ at sunset.

Night-time strolls

  1. An evening stroll around Gràcia. Along carrer de Verdi, with its cinemas and bars, up to plaça de la Revolució.
  2. Font Màgica de Montjuïc. Water, light and music at nightfall, for free. The days change with the season, so check them first. And from 26 November to 6 January, the Christmas lights.

All the places to go out are in my list of nights in Barcelona, and to string together cinema, dinner and drinks in one neighbourhood, see my evening plans.
