What to do in Poble-sec, Raval and Gràcia: a cultural walk

What to do in Poble-sec, Raval and Gràcia: three cultural walking routes with theatre, live music, bookshops and tapas, with specific stops.

🇪🇸 Leer en español Llegeix-lo en català

Barcelona is best understood neighbourhood by neighbourhood. Here are three walking itineraries combining stage, music, books and tapas.

The basics

Poble-sec theatre, jazz and tapas · Raval theatre, books and bars · Gràcia theatre, squares and bookshops

Tip pick one neighbourhood per afternoon and finish with a play or concert

Poble-sec · theatre, jazz and tapas

  • Mercat de les Flors: dance and performing arts, local and international.
  • Café Teatro Tinta Roja: live music with tapas, such as its gypsy swing nights.
  • Sala Paral·lel 62: intimate concerts.
  • Espai Bombers (c/ Lleida 30): a curious museum in a former fire station.
  • Montjuïc next door: the Fundació Miró, with Charlotte Perriand until February 2027, is just up the hill.

Raval · theatre, books and bars

  • Teatre Romea: now, Palabra de perro (until 8 November).
  • Tantarantana Teatre: now, Nosaltres, els sense nom.
  • Cafè Teatre Llantiol: monologues and concerts with the audience at bar tables.
  • Nocturama bookshop (c/ Peu de la Creu): a neighbourhood bookshop with workshops and book clubs.
  • La Central del Raval: huge shelves and a bar with a terrace.
  • La Virreina: Frederic Amat exhibition until 1 November.

Gràcia · theatre, squares and bookshops

  • Lliure de Gràcia: now, Júlia – 15 anys més tard.
  • Teatreneu: monologues, improv and magic.
  • Sala Beckett and Porta 4: contemporary theatre and creation.
  • La Memòria bookshop (Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia): a small gem of fiction and history.
  • Stroll its squares and have tapas as the evening begins.

How to combine it

Pick one neighbourhood per afternoon: bookshop or museum first, then tapas, and a play or concert at night. If you prefer small venues, see boutique theatre in Barcelona; for rainy afternoons, charming bookshops.

More plans: Barcelona in November and Barcelona when it rains.

What to do in Poble-sec at night

Theatre at the Mercat de les Flors, live music with tapas at Café Teatro Tinta Roja or an intimate concert at Sala Paral·lel 62. By day, Espai Bombers and the Fundació Joan Miró on Montjuïc.

What to do in the Raval on an afternoon of theatre and books

A play at Teatre Romea or Tantarantana Teatre, monologues at Cafè Teatre Llantiol, and a browse through bookshops such as Nocturama or La Central del Raval. La Virreina has a Frederic Amat exhibition until 1 November.

What to see in Gràcia on a cultural day

Theatre at Lliure de Gràcia, Sala Beckett or Teatreneu, the La Memòria bookshop on Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia and a stroll through its squares with tapas as the evening begins.
