🇪🇸 Leer en español Llegeix-lo en català

If there is one sweet that tells me autumn has arrived in Barcelona, it is the panellet. Every year you ask me the same thing: where to buy the best panellets in Barcelona and how much you should pay. So I have made a list of my pastry shops and checked the 2026 prices one by one.

Here is what each one offers, what it costs and who it suits. There are lifelong classics, signature pastry shops and a gluten-free option for coeliacs. For more about the festival itself, see the Castanyada in Barcelona.

The prices for Bubó, L’Atelier, Hofmann and La Colmena come from their online shops. La Campana and Jansana do not sell panellets online, so these are the prices they have published this autumn: check when you order.

Bubó, the best value for money

Bubó (carrer de les Caputxes, 10, in the Born) is the pastry shop of Carles Mampel, one of the big names in Barcelona patisserie. Even so, it is where panellets are the best value: a box of 24 pine nut panellets costs €25, just over a euro each.

They are handmade with Marcona almond marzipan and toasted pine nuts on top. If you want a box to share at your Castanyada dinner without spending a fortune, this is my first stop.

L’Atelier, for new flavours

L’Atelier (Viladomat, 140 bis, with another shop on carrer del Doctor Fleming) is a pastry shop and school, and it creates a new collection every year. This year’s is called Castanyera 2.0, with flavours such as raspberry, lemon, mango and chestnut. It also makes its well-known cube-shaped pine nut panellets.

These are its 2026 prices:

  • Box of 9 fresh panellets: €16.50.
  • Castanyera 2.0 box of 21: €38.50.
  • Castanyera 2.0 Deluxe box of 30: €45.
  • Cube-shaped pine nut: €24.50 for 9, €49 for 18 and €70 for 27.

It sells online with in-store pickup and delivery across Spain.

Hofmann, fine patisserie in the Born

Hofmann has two shops: one in the Born (Flassaders, 44) and one at Turó Park (avinguda de Pau Casals, 5). Its panellets are the most refined on this list, and the price shows it.

  • Pine nut panellets: €21. They are scented with Haitian vanilla.
  • Assorted panellets: €17. Pine nut, coconut, coffee, hazelnut with a caramel centre dipped in chocolate, raspberry, pistachio with candied orange and three citrus.

They are made to order with 24 hours’ notice, for pickup in store or delivery in Barcelona.

La Campana, the classic since 1890

La Campana (carrer de la Princesa, 36) is the traditional turrón shop, run by the same family since 1890. Its panellets are around 70% almond, with no potato or sweet potato in the dough, which makes them less sweet than many.

Flavours include pine nut, candied cherry, candied orange, coffee, coconut, lemon with cinnamon and quince. A kilo of pine nut panellets costs around €69, according to the price published this year. There is no online shop: you buy at the counter.

La Colmena, one of Barcelona’s oldest pastry shops

La Colmena (plaça de l’Àngel, 12, in the Gothic Quarter) is one of the oldest pastry shops in the city and, for me, the one with the widest range. Its assortment mixes 18 flavours: pine nut, cinnamon, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, pistachio, egg yolk, strawberry, lemon, orange, almond, hazelnut, crema catalana, ossos de sant, quince, praline, coconut and muscat.

  • 300 g: €21 (12 assorted and 2 pine nut).
  • 500 g: €36 (22 assorted and 3 pine nut).
  • 1 kg: €72 (44 assorted and 6 pine nut).
  • Small tin: €21.60, and large tin: €42.90. Perfect as a gift.

The shop itself points out that they contain no preservatives and recommends eating them within a week.

Mauri, on Rambla de Catalunya

Mauri (Rambla de Catalunya, 102) has been making sweets since 1929 and is part of the history of the Eixample. For All Saints’ Day it prepares its tray of panellets, from the most classic to the most elaborate.

Mauri does not publish its panellet prices online, so you will need to ask in store. It is a good stop if you are shopping in the centre and want to take a tray home.

Gluten-free panellets for coeliacs at Jansana Gluten Free

If you are coeliac, or someone at your table is, head to Jansana Gluten Free (carrer de Balmes, 106). It is a 100% gluten-free bakery, so its panellets carry no risk of cross-contamination, which is the main worry when buying sweets outside the home.

It makes pine nut panellets, at around €69 a kilo, and flavoured ones, at around €59 a kilo. They are not sold online, so go to the shop: it opens Monday to Saturday from 8:30 to 20:30, and Sundays and holidays from 9:00 to 14:00.

If you want the award-winning panellet

Every year the Ruta dels Millors Panellets de Pinyons de Catalunya chooses the best pine nut panellet. In 2026 the gold went to Pastisseria Oriol Carrió, its third win after 2022 and 2024. You will find it at its shops at Bailèn, 216, Provença, 139, and Comte d’Urgell, 75.

The 2025 award went to Pastisseria Faixat (Muntaner, 159), open since 1929. If you love a proper pine nut panellet, it is worth trying both.

To get it right

  • Order two or three days ahead
  • Get an assorted box to try different flavours
  • Keep them in a closed box, out of the fridge
  • Serve them with a sweet wine or muscat

Best avoided

  • Turning up without an order on the afternoon of the 31st
  • Buying more than you can eat in a week
  • Assuming a panellet is gluten-free
  • Supermarket tray panellets
