Some restaurants win you over the moment you walk in, and Bottega Bernacca is one of them. It’s a new Italian in Gràcia, on Carrer de Bonavista. I went to try it with high hopes and left wanting to go back.
Bottega Bernacca at a glance

Hours: Mon–Sat, 1–3:30 pm and 7–11 pm · Sun, 1–4 pm

Best for: a special dinner, as a couple or with friends
Pasta finished in front of you
What I loved most is the pasta show. The mushroom tagliolini arrive at the table in the pan and the waiter plates them in front of you, twirled with tongs, with all the sauce. Fresh, creamy pasta with real wild mushrooms.

Truffle shaved to order
The other highlight: a large raviolo with truffle shaved over it at the table, with white gloves and a slicer. You smell it before you taste it.

A room to linger in
The room is beautiful: colourful terrazzo floors, a long bar with a wine cabinet, warm light and white tablecloths. It has that elegant trattoria feel that makes you want a long dinner. Service was attentive throughout.

Good to know before you go
- Book ahead, especially for dinner from Thursday to Saturday.
- It’s not a cheap Italian: it’s a treat, not a quick pizza.
- If you only order one dish, make it pasta. It’s what they do best.
