Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, and in Barcelona this year has a detail you don’t get every year: shops can open on Sunday 29, because it’s one of the authorised opening holidays in Catalonia. So this year there’s a full shopping weekend.
Here are the dates, what’s open, where to shop and what to know so the discounts are real discounts. I’ll keep updating this as shops announce their offers: as of 21 October, none of the big chains has published its dates yet.
Black Friday 2026 dates
| Date | When |
|---|---|
| Singles’ Day | Wednesday 11 November |
| Black Week | Monday 23 to Sunday 29 November |
| Black Friday | Friday 27 November |
| Sunday with shops open | Sunday 29 November |
| Cyber Monday | Monday 30 November |
Many shops no longer do just the Friday: they stretch it to the whole week, and some start a few days early. Cyber Monday is mainly for online shopping.
What the big shops are saying so far
- El Corte Inglés: its website only confirms that Black Friday “will arrive on 27 November”, with no start or end dates.
- Amazon: hasn’t confirmed dates yet.
- MediaMarkt: there’s talk of it starting its campaign early, but no official dates.
- Inditex (Zara and co.): no announcement yet.
As soon as they announce, I’ll add it here.
Shops open on Sunday 29
In Catalonia shops can only open on specific Sundays and holidays each year, and Sunday 29 November 2026 is one of them. After that come the Christmas ones: 6, 8, 13, 20 and 27 December.
Bear in mind that in November the tourist zone that lets city-centre shops open on Sundays no longer applies: it only runs from 15 May to 15 September. So outside those set days, almost everything is closed on Sundays. I explain it all in which shops open on public holidays in Barcelona.
The exception is Maremagnum, in Port Vell, which is open every day of the year from 10:00 to 22:00.
Where to shop in Barcelona
The streets:
- Portal de l’Àngel, the pedestrian street of the big chains, between Plaça de Catalunya and the cathedral.
- Passeig de Gràcia and Rambla de Catalunya, for luxury brands and long-standing shops.
- El Corte Inglés on Plaça de Catalunya, Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 21:30.
The shopping centres:
| Centre | Where | Opening hours | Sunday 29 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Westfield Glòries | Av. Diagonal, 208 | 9:00 to 21:00 | ✅ Open |
| Westfield La Maquinista | Passeig de Potosí, 2 | 9:00 to 21:00 | ✅ Open |
| L’Illa Diagonal | Av. Diagonal, 557 | Monday to Saturday, 9:30 to 21:00 | ✅ Open |
| Maremagnum | Moll d’Espanya, 5 | Every day, 10:00 to 22:00 | ✅ Open |
| Diagonal Mar | Av. Diagonal, 3-35 | Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 21:00 | Not confirmed |
| Arenas de Barcelona | Gran Via, 373-385 | Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 21:00 | Not confirmed |
My tip: if you’re going on Saturday or Sunday, go first thing. By mid-afternoon the shopping centres are packed and the fitting-room queues are endless.
The outlets: La Roca Village and Viladecans
What is it? The biggest designer outlet near Barcelona, with fashion and luxury shops at reduced prices all year round.
Why go? In previous years it has run its own Black Friday, with extra discounts on top of outlet prices.
- WhenEvery day, 10:00 to 21:00
- WhereLa Roca del Vallès, about 40 minutes from Barcelona
- Getting thereShopping Express bus from Estació del Nord: €25 return booked in advance (€14 children)
La Roca Village has done Black Friday in other years: in 2024 it ran from 21 November to 2 December, with discounts of up to 60%. The 2026 dates haven’t been announced yet.
The Shopping Express leaves Estació del Nord every hour from 9:00 to 20:00 (except 15:00). Bought on board it costs €27 return, so it’s worth booking ahead.
The other outlet is Viladecans The Style Outlets (Carretera de la Vila, 90), which has the advantage of being reachable by train: the Rodalies R2 drops you less than 100 metres away. On Sundays only the restaurants are open.
How to tell if a discount is real
This is what matters most to me in the whole article, because it’s where people get caught out.
- The crossed-out price must be the lowest of the last 30 days. That’s been the law since 2022. If a shop raises the price in October to “discount” it in November, it’s cheating.
- Take screenshots beforehand. If you’ve got your eye on something, save the price a few weeks before and compare on the 27th.
- The guarantee is the same. A discounted product has the same 3-year legal guarantee as one at full price.
- Buying online, you have 14 days to return it without giving any reason.
- In a physical shop, returns are not compulsory. Only if the shop offers them, and then it has to explain the conditions on a sign or the receipt. Ask before you pay.
Last year the Catalan government monitored the prices of 155 companies and around 10,000 products during Black Friday, and fines can reach €100,000.
Tax-free shopping if you live outside the EU
If you’re from outside the European Union, you can reclaim the VAT on what you buy, and since 2018 there’s no minimum amount.
You have 3 months to take your purchases out of the EU in your luggage, and it only applies to goods, not services.
What I’d do on Black Friday
Yes
- Make a list of what I need before the 27th
- Save prices a few weeks beforehand
- Use Sunday 29 to shop calmly
- Get the Christmas presents in early
- Ask whether they take returns before paying
No
- Trust the crossed-out price without comparing
- Buy something I don’t need because it’s discounted
- Go to a shopping centre on Saturday afternoon
- Assume everything is open on Sunday 22

When is Black Friday 2026
Friday 27 November 2026. Many shops stretch it over the whole week, from Monday 23 to Sunday 29, and Cyber Monday, focused on online shopping, is on Monday 30 November.
Are shops open on the Sunday after Black Friday in Barcelona
Yes. Sunday 29 November 2026 is one of the authorised shop opening days in Catalonia, so shops can open. Westfield Glòries, Westfield La Maquinista and L’Illa Diagonal have already marked it as an opening day. Maremagnum is open every day of the year.
How can I tell if a Black Friday discount is real
By law, the previous price shown crossed out must be the lowest price that product had in the previous 30 days. If a shop raises the price before Black Friday and then discounts it, it is breaking the rules. Save screenshots of the prices of the products you want a few weeks beforehand.
Can I return Black Friday purchases
Online purchases can be returned within 14 calendar days without giving a reason. In physical shops returns are not compulsory unless the shop offers them, in which case it must explain the conditions. Discounted products have the same 3-year guarantee as full-price ones.
How does tax-free shopping work in Barcelona
Residents outside the European Union can reclaim the VAT on their purchases, with no minimum amount since 2018. Ask for the DIVA form in the shop with your passport and validate it at the airport before checking in, with a boarding pass to a destination outside the EU. The refund is paid at the offices in T1 and T2 or to a card.
